Home Sweet Home

Posted on February 3, 2006 by jaypoc

The morning began with my friend from Florida Waking me up. We made plans to meet at the diner. I made a few phonecalls and arranged a walk-through of the place. Unfortunately, the power had been “shut off” when they moved out, so I couldn’t check any of the appliances. Oh well, what could I do.

So we went to the co-op’s office and sat in the brand new, just built, never used conference room. We all sat around the large wooden conference table signing papers and passing checks back and forth. All went well, in fact, I actually got money back. After 2 hours or so, we all shook hands, and left. The deed was done.

I am a homeowner now.

My father hadn’t seen the place yet, so we took a ride out there. Checking out the storage/electric room, we found the electric off. Just for shits and giggles, we pressed the ON button and headed up to the place and sure enough, the power came right on! So we checked all the appliances, air conditioners, etc… All in working order!

Tomorrow starts the joys of planning, painting, shopping , etc…

OMG!!!!! YAY!!!! I am so happy for you. I know the feeling of going from living at home to owning a home (albeit smaller than parentals’ house). If you don’t buy all your paint this weekend, maybe we can meet up for paint shopping (Well, they painted before I moved in, so I did not have to rush to paint – I have all white walls – I now officially have “other people are painting” envy.)

    Anyway, congrats. Enjoy yourself!
If you ever have any questions, I’m just an email away!

P.S. – I am guessing you did not break down into complete hysterics after the closing? Just wondering.

    I appreciate the offer.

I will probably get some this weekend, and I have someone who can get me great pricing on premium paints. If you wanna help paint, I might be doing that next weekend 🙂

I still haven’t chosen my colors.

I may use a deep red for the living room (It’s currently a deep red-orange which I happen to like)..

The bathroom has white tile on the floor (I’d like to replace.. in time tho), white/baige tiles around the bathroom. a White tub/cabinets…

The kitchen is your standard off-white mica laminated cabinets with light wood trim.

I have to go there in the daytime and check the actual colors/shades of the carpeting and all. Any color/theme suggestions are welcomed. What have you seen that looks good?

And none of that “white” shit that everyone’s been doing for the past 30 years 🙂

I’m a pretty laid back person, so I was neither hysterical freaking out or hyper-excited… A few Woohoo’s came out of my mouth over the evening, and I’m extremely excited. This is my new project after all 🙂

Well, I, being a tad high-strung at times, broke down in complete hysterics. Gee, what a shocker.

    Woo-hoos are good, too.
