Chaotic TV Land

Posted on November 25, 2005 by jaypoc

So I got to experience my first Black Friday today. Even when I worked at Wal-Mart, somehow I managed to escape the craziness of the major shopping day after Thanksgiving.

I left work about 11:15 and headed home to gather some much needed supplies. I grabbed a hat, some gloves, and even a second jacket. I dropped my brother off at a friend’s and headed out to pick up . We headed out to Best Buy to partake in their awesome sales. Amazingly, there were people camped out there since around 7:30 PM, and we got there at midnight… for a store that would open at 5AM!

So after 4 hours in the freezing cold, we finally got in. Dave got shafted and despite our attempt to line up 4 hours before opening, they ran out of Laptop Computers by the time they got to us in line. I was more fortunate. I managed to get everything I needed, and then some.

I got a 512 MB CompactFlash card for my camera, two 1 GB thumb drives, a keyboard and a 24′ Television for my new home.

I admire your resolve. That being said, nothing, NOTHING!, that could be on sale could compel me to camp out in normal weather for a store opening. I mean, I have to go to IKEA tomorrow, but if they are out of what I need, oh well! I’ll go back next week and pay full price.

Glad you got what you went for.

    Well… You didn’t catch the 24′ TV… Not 24″ (inches), 24 Feet!

I bought a projector… $450 (Normally $800+) so it was quite a deal. I talked to one woman there who was on line at 7:30PM and after everything, she wound up saving around $1500.. For her, that was worth sittin’ outside. (in chairs, with blankets, with friends, etc.)

Crazy People!.. Then again, I’m one of them too. lol

OK, I JUST got this comment TODAY! LJ Rocks.

Anyway, I admire you – I am a lazy ass who would not be purchasing things that would require $1,500 savings in the first place, I guess.

Also, 24 FOOT Tvs are a boy thing. I hate big TVs, they waste too much space.

Then you’ll love this… It’s a 24 Foot TV, but it takes up less space than a 13 Inch TV… It’s a projector. The actual projector is about the size of 3 laptop computers on top of eachother. (8x10x4 or so).

It projects onto a screen that hangs on the wall (or even a white wall itself) which only protrudes a few inches from the wall at most.

so my TV takes up no space, and gives that theatre experience… in my living room

Ohhhhhh! I was thinking of getting a projector TV for my bedroom. Either that or a plasma to hang on the wall. My problem with the projector is where to put the projector.

Shelf on the opposite wall, OR they make mounts to hang from the ceiling
