Friends don’t let friends update XP! πŸ™‚
Out of the 7 guys I go to school with, only 1 peron had a clean install of Service Pack 2. The others had 2 nights of no sleep trying to back out the changes. Be sure to save your last known good config!! My fingers are crossed for you.

apparently if you install Service Pack 2 it makes cleaning up your system a bugger further down the line… Or something like that, My brother was teh one who told me “Under no circumstances install Service pack two” and then went on to tell me why.. The words were English and on their own they made perfect sense, but when he put them all together i had no clue what he meant. So i figured i’d just listen to the first bit

    Reeeeally?

I havent heard ANY horror stories yet. Installed SP2 on 2 of my machines (one at work, and my test/play machine here)..

Only horror stories I heard were from the Betas of SP2.

SP2 has a lot of security enhancements which can interfere with the way certain programs are (poorly) designed to interact over the net. Thos programs mainly are affected, and I understand the reasons and have deemed that acceptable.

My test installs of SP2 have been successfull and I like the features that do work. Granted, Microsoft still has some bugs, especially in their new Control Center. A great concept but VERY poorly implemented. We were looking foward to it at work when we heard what it would do, but when we saw how “well” it worked we basically disregard it’s existance altogether. lol

I think everything on mine is running smooth b/c, the user is able to adjust the new security settings to their specs…..with the new “security center” (in control panel) it is totally user friendly, the whole security update seems to be based off of Norton’s Internet Security, which is also very user friendly….. Just my two cents….Like I said, I am very pleased, this is probably MS’s best update….
