Fuel for your Thoughts

Posted on April 8, 2014 by jaypoc

So I pulled up to pump for my first fill-up in the G37. The dashboard indicator came on during my ride to work, so during lunch my coworker and I stopped to fuel up. I hopped out only to find the gas tank missing. Or on the opposite side of the car anyway. I swing the car around, and go to open the tank. It doesn’t open. I come back to the car to look for the release switch. There isn’t any! Continue reading →

To Infiniti and Beyond

Posted on April 8, 2014 by jaypoc

So I finally got rid of my Scion TC. It was a reliable ride, but over the past five years, I have grown a complete hatred for Toyota. After two top-of-the-line Grand Prix GTPs, the Scion was a big step down. I’m happy to say that I’m back in the game.  Continue reading →

1538946_665478610169066_2132198759_nOne year ago today, I asked a wonderful woman that I had known for years but only started hanging out with for a month and a half to be my girlfriend. As I’m typing this, I am also preparing a special dinner for the two of us. Kelly, I love you so much. Happy Anniversary!

Coffee Run, a Success Story

figure 1: The lid is too big

figure 1: The lid is too big

So you stepped away from your cubicle to get a cup of coffee. With your favorite mug, you head to the coffee machine. You choose your brew, add some Milk (and maybe some sugar) and you head back to your desk, but along the way, you feel the cold harsh stares from the cleaning crew who have to follow you around cleaning up coffee puddles. Let’s face it, nobody understands fluid dynamics enough to manage across the office without sloshing the coffee. So I had this idea:

Our office provides lids for the substandard paper coffee cups they provide, but these lids are just a bit too large for my mug (see figure 1). I simply made a small tear in the side of the lid opposite the drinking tab (figure 2). Now starting witn one side of the gap I made, you can push the lid down onto the mug. Work around the mug and eventually the whole thing will lock into place. Press down in the center so the top is concave (figure 3), and voila. You can now cross the office without leaving a trail!

New Year, New Look

Posted on January 30, 2014 by jaypoc

With the new year, comes a new look for the web site. It’s been a year of learning and new experiences for me, and I wanted my website to reflect that. Besides it was looking a bit stale. This year is going to be a good one, I can feel it! The past year has been wonderful to me, both professionally and personally and I don’t plan on letting it end. I am going to try to blog more often as well. I have gone further in my career, my hobbies, and even in my personal life, so perhaps it’s time I get back to sharing my experiences.
