I got an offer for a job from the agency I’m going through. Unfortunately, it was a one-day position (Saturday Days) providing helpdesk. I just want to get a full time position in the IT field. I had one interview the other day and I think that the guy really liked me, however he couldn’t pay me what I wanted. So the search continues.

That’s all folks!
Well, Thats the end of ICON. Got see see some cool stuff today. Spat (of www.spatcave.com ) has given me some new ideas, including where I can get the main component to the costume I’ve been working on for the past few years. Hopefully his suggestion will work out for me…
It seems that things get a little worse every year. I don’t know if I have just seen a little of everything and nothing is new and fresh, I don’t know if it’s dur to a lack of trek-stuff and an overabundance of Anime stuff (which I’m not all that into)…It just seems that things weren’t done as well this year. Then again, I say that every year. I was dissapointed at the lack of their “Cyberbar” this year. Basically, it was a lame attempt at a “futuristic-styled” bar with a live DJ, concerts, events, but while the hype made of it made it seem lame once you got there, it’s absence shows that it really is a key part of the con. It’s a place to just hang out, and most important of all, get cheap food…. The food at the con can be expensive as hell! They offered snacks and sodas for $0.50 where the machines outside wanted $1.25 for a soda, and the food tent wanted $2 for the same.
Saw a few other panels. Ran into more friends.. Had a good time despite any of the shortcomings. Can’t wait unrtil the next ICON 🙂

Day two is over. A lot more panels by “The Hackers” and I was intrigued to see the people usually associated in the “Hacker” and IT panels were also on some of the other science panels.
Also ran into a few old friends of mine, one of who was actually on a panel much to my surprise.
Then there was the panel about “Play Video Games for a Living” which Dave should have been a part of. There was only one guy leading this lecture and he was basically preaching to a bunch of kids who worshipped him for his job. He was quite arogent and had very little knowledge of the gaming industry on Long Island (as he was from San Francisco)… At least Dave worked as a tester here on LI!!!!!
Lots of great costumes, Lots of Medieval stuff, Some Trekkie types, and some people who just should NOT have been wearing what they were wearing.
Tomorrow morning is an early start to catch the Geocaching panel. Hopefully I’ll get to meet some of the Geocachers I’ve come to recognise from the geocaching.com web site.

Day one is over… It was a good day. We wandered the dealers room for a bit, I picked up a con T-Shirt which I do every year…Thats kind of my souvenier of the convention. We met up with a bunch of our friends and saw some films and discussion panels. Finally saw Jason vs. Freddy… Not a bad day…
Tomorrow should be cool! I’ll be dressing up in my medieval garb. Should be a lot of fun. I’m going to try to get a ton of pictures too.
Well, It’s 3 AM and I have to be up again at 8, so ttfn!
On your marks… Get Set… GO!
It’s the beginning of ICON weekend. An annual weekend of non-stop geekery and fun 😉 I’ll try to post but if not, you can hear from me on Monday!
