Sing… Sing a song.. Sing it loud

Posted on January 30, 2004 by jaypoc

Wal-Mart (There IS a hell. It’s on earth and I work there) has some pretty good sales now and then. The company is clearing out a LOT of old (good) merchandise… I picked up a Karaoke machine for $20 (It’s $10 now so I may try to get a price adjustment)… Its got the video out and 2 mics and all so it’s pretty cool!

Mom won’t let me keep it in my room though.. She wants to play with it also. lol. She was having a ball yesterday with it, 🙂 We’re going out shopping and stuff tomorrow so we’re gonna pick up some Karaoke CDs

Happy Birthday

Posted on January 30, 2004 by jaypoc

I don’t feel older. But I am… 27 now.. sheesh! I still remember turning 21 and being dissapointed that the guy at 7-11 didn’t ID me. I still have the first bottle of beer I bought legally. Thats kind of nasty if you think about it. Does beer age well? It’s 6 years old so far.

Just got back from dinner with Mom, Dad, Mike and my cousin andrew… Went to East, the chinese buffet in Huntington. Probably the last good chinese buffer around.

Had a good time.

JaypoCON V

Posted on January 25, 2004 by jaypoc

Every year, around my birthday, I hold a huge celebration which I have named, JaypoCON. It started in 2000 when I invited a large group of my friends over the house and out to dinner. JaypoCON events have had over 50 attendees at times and are always great fun!

This year, we headed to Medieval Times in Lindhurst, New Jersey.

The evening started out with everyone meeting at my house for cocktail weenies, drinks, and just casual hanging out and chatting. I hadn’t made prior reservations for Medieval Times because we still didn’t know for sure how many people were coming. At the “reception” I collected money from people and made the reservation for Eleven people. A small group, but understandable seeing that it was $50 per person to go.

We hopped into 2 cars and headed to Jersey…. Traffic wasn’t all that bad. It took us just under 2 hours to get there.

Medieval Times sells Bunratty Mead so Dave and me got a bottle…. I drank about half the bottle, then during the tournament got another bottle for myself… Over all, I probably drank one and a half bottles of Mead all by myself. Woohoo! 🙂

Of course, what are friends for, except to try to Humiliate you… They brought me back to wait for the king to arrive, and sure enough, the first name they called was my own. I was to be Knighted. You may call me, Sir AJypoc from now on!

Dinner was cool.. Soup in a crock with a handle… no silverware. Chicken, Ribs, Potato all served on a pewter plate and of course, it’s ALL finger-food… There was no silverware in medieval times, hence there IS no silverware AT Medieval Times. Finished off with the Pastry of the Castle, an apple-pie-type-thingy.

Our knight was the Green Knight! He lost, though he outlasted all the other knights except the winner. We think he was gay. Maybe not… he didn’t throw the rose to Carmine or myself. Both who were waving to him to. lol

Medieval Times was a lot of fun. I got a “Birthday King” crown, Photo of myself being Knighted, a wooden sword, a Medieval Times shot glass for my collection and we even found a green banner on one of the tables that someone left behind.

We headed back to Long Island and made a pit stop at my house… We met up with Jen and Charlie again (who chose not to go to Medieval Times) and went to a small bar in Old Bethpage. So small it doesn’t even have a name… Well, okay.. It does have a name, but I don’t remember it.

We hung out there all night. Drinking, Dancing playing Darts and playing pool…. More people showed up for the bar and everyone had a great night!

JaypoCON V was a success… as usual…

next year, who knows.. Maybe Atlantic City.

Exciting! Tomorrow is the fifth annual JaypoCON… yes, JaypoCON 2004!

We’ll be meeting at my place at 2:00 PM and hopefully if all works out we’ll head over to Medieval Times in New Jersey to catch a show at 7-ish….

If things dont work out, we’ll be drinkin’ and eatin’ near home. lol.
