Odd occurance… First of all, I recieved PC Magazine today (which is odd itself, because I don’t remember subscribing!). I recieved my May 8, 2007 issue. A bit late, but not too crazy. The weird part is that I recieved the June 5, 2007 issue yesterday. And just when you think only 2 issues got “misplaced” I already had the May 22 issue on my desk. so how I recieved it 2 issues late, I don’t know.. Maybe my mail man reads PC Magazine ;)

Since XM radio suspended Opie and Anthony, faithful listeners (or anybody willing to claim they are) are elligible for a free month of XM service.

I called XM pretty annoyed, since the reason I pay for XM is to listen to O&A. I asked for creidt since they weren’t carrying the programming that I bought my radio to listen to. I expected a fight about it and was ready to cancel/suspend my service until Opie & Anthonty came back on, but they quicky issued me a free month.

If you have XM, call up and tell them you’re not happy that O & A were suspended for providing the type of radio that they were hired to do and ask for credit. You’ll be given a free month.

I also heard that if you try to cancel your service. they’ll offer you 3 free months to stay with them, so if you’re willing to suspend your account, you might be able to chance 3 free months, but the 1 month deal is the real thing.

So I got a great deal on an XM Radio MyFi. It’s basically an XM radio Walkman. Granted here on Long Island, it’s not that usefull, but in the city it’s great. Major metropolitan areas have land-based repeaters, kind of like cellphones do, to provide coverage where satellite reception is low or impossible. The main reason I wanted these units though is because they can time shift, and more importantly, be programmed to record at specific times.

Often when I listen to Opie and Anthony, I wind up hearing the same bits during their replay since I catch the same parts of the show, so now I’ll be able to record the show, and during all my driving or hanging out @ home, I’ll be able to listen to the entire show, stopping it when I get out of the car and resuming it when I get back in.

Unfortunately, I will be cancelling my XM subscription. At least for 30 days while O&A are suspended. I bought XM radio specifically to listen to O&A because I want to listen to over the edge radio. They were suspended for just what I wanted the service for, so I expect that XM will give me a refund for the 30 days. If not I think I’ll cancel my subscription for the month that O&A is off the radio. The music channels are good, but not worth paying for and I’m not really a Ron & Fez fan.

It’s been a long weekend, and although I can say I’m glad that it’s over, I had an awesome time.

Friday night was the premiere of 28 Weeks Later, so Casey and I headed into New York’s Union Square in full zombie makeup and torn clothing to take part in the festivities put together my my old roomate, Action Vance from Zombie NYC.

We got there and found about 40 other zombies torturing innocent bystanders and eating Brains. (Props to the people who brought the brains! lol). Aside from zombies, were personnel from Fangoria, Village Voice, and other random photographers, videographers, etc… After just hanging out in Union Square for a while, we headed down the block to the theatre where we saw the movie. From what I’m told, it was not as scary as the first one (I havent seen it), but it was pretty good. I enjoyed it.

We then headed out to the Black Bear Loge, a small bar on 3rd Ave. We were the first zombies there, so we were welcomed by a small crowd of regulars and the bar staff. The night was a lot of fun, as everyone [who wasn't afraid of us] was very friendly and social. The place actually got pretty busy as the night went on. Lots of brains, leering, and drinking happened that night. A few pictures too…

By the way, if anybody has pictures from the event, and especially any of me, please email me a link or the pictures themselves. Thanks!

I think the fact that we were dressed head-to-toe zombie made it a more unique night. A few people came up to me and Casey, after passing many other zombified people asking about the event. We must have looked like the poster children of the thing. It was good times though.

So this weekend is ZombieNYC. A bunch of zombified individuals are gathering in New York City to wreak havok during the rush hour and then head off to watch “Another 28 Weeks”. Afterwards, meeting in a local bar to enjoy brain hemmorages and other zombie-loved beverages.

Casey and I started working on our costumes. We headed to the Thrift store to pick up some nice clothing that we won’t feel bad about ruining for the zombie cause. I picked up a white(ish) button-down shirt, dress pants and a sport jacket. It cost me under $20 for the whole thing. Casey came over last night and brought some paints and makeup picked up from Wal-Mart. Tiffany joined us and had a look of sheer horror on her face as I took to my new Ralph Lauren sport jacket with a butterfly knife and scissior. Hey, it only cost me $7!

After tearing up the shirts and pants, we began painting blood on. We made two shades of red paint and covered the garb around the tears and smeared it around other areas as well, especially the collar and chest (Blood drips down all over you when you eat brains!)

We ran out of paint so I’m going to swing by Wal-Mart later and pick up some more. I’m also going to swing by Party City and see if they have any leftover zombie makeup from halloween. We were going to use the acrylic paint, but once it dries I think it’ll crack too much. I’m going to see what I can find as an alternative and use it as a backup.

I’ll try to get some pictures up at some point.
