The hardware that makes it all happen.

The Computer

Here's all the components that make up my carputer at this time:

  • Mobile PC (I am using my Laptop for now)
  • Lilliput 8" Touch-screen VGA Monitor
  • Garmin eTrex Venture GPS
  • Logitech Playstation2 USB Keyboard (Great Miniature keyboard)
  • Orinoco Silver 802.11b Wifi PCMCIA Adapter w/ Magnetic Antenna
  • Compaq 4-Port USB 1.1 HUB

    Eventually, I plan to build a dedicated mobile PC. For now, I'm just using my laptop. Why not? It's portable, Stable, and has all the software I need and makes it easy to swap around to test new applications on. Here's the specs of the Laptop:

  • Pentium 4 Processor running at 3.06 Ghz
  • 1 GB of Memory
  • 100 GB Hard Drive
  • DVD+R Burner
  • 2x USB, 1x PCMCIA, 1x Audio Out

    Over time, I hope to expand this and get some more equipment dedicated to the carputer. For now, future plans include:

  • Mini-ITX PC System with Automotive Power Supplies/Regulators
  • USB GPS with external antenna
